East Norwich Fire Department and local officials recently honored a young firefighter.

Anthony Panella, an East Norwich Junior Firefighter, was honored at the department's 18th annual installation dinner held at the East Norwich Fire Department headquarters.

"I started being a junior [firefighter] for community service… but i find the whole fire service is really interesting and i definitely want to pursue it," Panella said in 2012. Watch the full video on the right under Videos.

On hand to help honor Panella were East Norwich Junior Firefighters Chairman Jerry Presta, Oyster Bay Councilman Anthony Macagnone and Nassau County District Court Judge Rhonda Fischer.

Panella was honored as an Outgoing Captain of the junior firefighters. Panella serves as East Norwich Fire Department's Recording Secretary, according to their website.
