Adulthood Is Not Child's Play!

As a college professor, we know that many of the students are not "adults" but LEGALLY weRead More are not allowed to discuss the student with the parent. We know that it is the parent that is most often paying for college, but without a signed letter of consent. signed by both the parent and the student, we are LEGALLY NOT ALLOWED to discuss the student with the parent....no matter how much we want to.

I completely agree with you...and that's my point. Our system does define adulthood by age (and tooRead More young of an age in my opinion) when it shouldn't be. And personally, I think talking on your cell phone or texting while driving should be an immediate loss of license.

Age does not determine adulthood. Maturity does. There are plenty of non-adult 30 year oldsRead More wandering around. You can see them on their cell phones while driving at 70 mph.

Thanks for the note. Loss of the player, not the game.

Someone at Patch please reread this article. Very poorly written. "The Mineola boys lacrosseRead More team, making only its second playoff appearance in a decade, shrugged off the loss." Thought Mineola won!

Heather: I WISH I could bike to work...but its too dangerous!! Many in the town of Bayville wouldRead More walk and bike 3 miles to the Village of Oyster Bay (hamlet). But we can't, because the artery road that sees over 10,000 cars day (I have the traffic report) is being overtaken by hedges and fences of the neighboring estates. Since the 1907 when the road was deeded to Nassau County, there was an upland walking path, and much wider road. Some say the road has a 7' clear zone that should be maintained on each lane. Well now the Nassau County DPW is rebuilding the road with our tax money, but repaving it with only 6" shoulder on the north lane. How can you possibly bike this 2 mi stretch? Cars and bikes in only 22 feet cannot get around each other. Its a shame. Please come to this Thursday's meeting of the OB Civic Association where Nassau County DPW will be meeting with concerned residents. We feel that since NYS money is going towards project, then "Complete Streets" bike accomodation should be included, even it eminent domain is required. PLEASE ATTEND! Its 7 pm at The OB Italian American Club on Summit Street in OB Village.
