Oyster Bay Moves into 2013

Superintendent Phyllis Harrington's monthly message, reminders.

In her monthly message to the district, Oyster Bay-East Norwich Superintendent Phyllis Harrington sent warm wishes for the new year.

"This past fall was very trying, yet we used those setbacks and crises and, in fact, tragedies to help us remember what matters most," she said. "For us in the Oyster Bay School District, we continue to celebrate the success of our students and continually put forth the effort to do all we can to ensure that our young people are given the excellent education they deserve and the one that our community has come to expect."

  • Oyster Bay High School inducted 41 students into the National Honor Society Thursday.
  • Juniors head to a student-family college information night Wednesday.
  • OBEN Board of Education meets Jan. 8 and 22.
  • Talented musicians perform in the Nassau County Music Educators' Association All-County Music Festival Jan. 19-20 and Jan. 26-27.
  • Elementary PTA meets Jan. 10. OBHS PTSA meets Jan. 22. SEPTA meets Jan. 29.
  • January Regents and midterm exams will be embedded into regular school days so students will be in school for normal hours at that time.
