Oyster Bay Goes Back to School

Everything OBEN and St. Dominic's students need to get to school on time.

To the disappointment of many beach-loving students in Oyster Bay, the start of school is right around the corner. Although Oyster Bay-East Norwich students will ease into the school year by having their first vacation after just one day of classes, it doesn't mean they won't have to adjust.

Here are five things students will need to know to get to class on time:

1. First Day of School:

  • Thurs., Aug. 30 (off 31)
  • : Wed., Sept. 5

2. First Day of School Schedules:

  • :
    Main Office:  7:30 am – 4:00 pm
    Grades 7-12: 7:50 am – 2:16 pm
  • :
    Main Office:  8:00 am – 4:00 pm
    Grades 3-6: 8:25 am – 2:45 pm

  • :
    Main Office:  8:00 am – 4:00 pm
    Grades K-2: 9:05 am – 3:05 pm
    Pre-K:  9:00 am – 11:30 am  & 1:00 pm – 3:30 pm

  • first day dismissal time: 12 p.m.

3. Some students in town will have to go through orientation when they get to school. Here's the schedule:

  • Freshman Orientation: Aug. 28-29: 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
  • OBEN Kindergarten Classroom Orientation: 1:30 p.m.-2:30 p.m.

4. Be prepared for every school event by checking out the Oyster Bay Patch Events Calendar or head to the Oyster Bay-East Norwich School District website and St. Dominic High School website.
