Police Probe Shooting Death of Hicksville Woman

New details are emerging from Monday's shooting death of a Hicksville woman who was shot dead in in her boyfriend's Tarrytown home. 

Megan Bookstaver, 23, a Mercy College student from Hicksville, was with her boyfriend at his family's luxury town home on Labor Day when a rifle was discharged in an upstairs bedroom. Other family members were home at the time of the tragedy, shortly after 4 p.m. on Monday. 

Bookstaver's boyfriend was identified by Tarrytown police as Eric Gaulin, 25, whose family owned the home which looked out on the Tappen Zee Bridge on the Hudson River. A third person, as yet unidentified, was with the couple at the time of the shooting, police said.

No one has been charged in connection with the shooting. Police are continuing an investigation. 

Bethpage Man Charged in Hometown Burglary

Nassau Detectives, working with physical evidence left at the scene, have charged a Bethpage man with a burglary in his own community. 

Police have charged Joseph V. Isola, 23, of 44 Miller Road, Bethpage in connection with a recent burglary at Norcross Avenue. 

Police said Isola broke through a rear window and removed assorted jewelry and electronics from the home before fleeing the scene.

Detectives examined physical evidence left at the scene that led them to Isola. he was arrested without incident about 1 p.m. Thursday. 

Isola is charged with second-degree burglary.

Cops Seek Citgo Robber

The Citgo Gas Station at 60 Jerusalem Avenue in Hicksville was robbed on Saturday afternoon, according to Nassau County police.

According to detectives, a 71-year-old male employee was approached by a white man armed with a gun. The suspect demanded money and the victim complied.

The suspect fled on foot westbound on Marie Street with a second suspect described only as a black man.  

No injuries were reported and there were no customers at the gas station at the time.
