Cops: Rash of Burglaries in Hicksville

Oyster Bay spared in latest spree of burglaries.

A rash of burglaries hit the Oyster Bay area with Hicksville taking most of the heat, according to Nassau County Police.

Cops reported eight burglaries, six of them in Hicksville, within three days. All the Hicksville burglaries were reported on the same day, July 25.

Burglars hit mostly commercial locations, like Dunkin' Donuts, Station Deli, Asian Buffet, and Taste of Medres in Hicksville, police said. Proceeds from the mostly successful burglaries included packs of cigarettes, cash, registers, and safes.

The Second Precinct reported the following crimes:

  • July 25: Burglary; Station Deli, Hicksville; 10 packs of cigarettes stolen.
  • July 25: Burglary; Utopia, Hicksville; basement door pried open, nothing stolen.
  • July 25: Burglary; Dunkin Donuts, Hicksville; cash, safe stolen, registers damaged.
  • July 25: Burglary; Asian Buffet, Hicksville; attempted break-in, front door broken, nothing taken.
  • July 25: Burglary; Taste of Medres, Hicksville; cash stolen.
  • July 25: Burglary; Twin Lanes Avenue, Hicksville; cash stolen.
  • July 27: Burglary; Albers Lane, South Farmingdale; attempted break-in, pried steel basement door.
  • July 28: Burglary; Hillary Lane, Westbury; Playstation 3 stolen.
