Aug 20th vote NO ... learn why

The ‘NoMallHere’ group sounds like they care about the town. But, it is a front for Oyster Bay Realty LLC.  And not a real voice for Town of Oyster Bay residents.  For your information Oyster Bay Realty LLC is owned by Simon Property Group.

Simon Property Group owns the Broadway Mall and the Walt Whitman mall both within a 10 mile radius of the NoMallHere plot of land.

So I understand why Simon Property Group doesn't want another mall.  Let alone a mall owned by a strong competitor (Taubman).

So who is the ‘NoMallHere’ group supporters.  From their list of supports, most phone calls to those offices where not willing to say "No Mall" ... they only say yes the group has supported that movement (NoMallHere) in the past, but we don't know why.

It just doesn't make sense. Why would a residential community say no to a new mall that is not in the middle of any community.  Right off of the LIE, in a commercial area.  On top of a super-fund clean-up site.  Who would want housing on or near a super-fund clean-up area.

The ‘NoMallHere’ company/organization really sounds like a dirty little back-office scam of the people of the Town of Oyster Bay;  By Simon Malls.

And how much taxes would a nice big mall bring to the town compared to only a few houses. After all, the super-fund clean-up states that no residential housing can be built right on top of the clean-up area.  So only a few houses surrounding the clean-up spot can be built.  Then you and I know that in 10 years the clean-up spot will become a park. Now that sounds like a law suit that will cost the Town of Oyster Bay more money than they will every make from this short sited back-office sale of land.

The "NoMallHere" organization is not a strong voice for the Town of Oyster Bay, but rather a loud mouth for Simon Property Group (aka: Simon Malls).

This is not about what the residents of the Town of Oyster Bay want this is about Simon Malls keeping a strong-hold on all the malls on Long Island.

I say we need a Taubman Mall here on Long Island and the Town of Oyster Bay would be the perfect place for it.  And on this super-fund clean-up site would be the perfect re-purpose of the land.

Vote "NO"  and  don't sell the property to Simon Malls.  Taubman already has a small piece of land in this same area, they will pay MORE then Simon Malls for this plot of land if they are allow to build a Mall on it.  I say  Vote NO on Aug 20th and tell our Town of Oyster Bay to allow a Taubman Mall to be built on this site. A strong competitor to Simon Malls and a good tax base for the Town of Oyster Bay.   A win win for the real residents of the Town of Oyster Bay.

Thanks,
A real Town of Oyster Bay resident.
