Updated: Oyster Bay Power Outage Report

Patch reports outages and restoration times in our coverage area.

Patch will be reporting power outages and restoration times. Comment on the post if you are out of power or have had your power restored where you live and help us enhance our reporting. If you lose power, text "OUT" to 695472 (mylipa).

LIPA said some customers should be prepared to be without power for up to 7-10 days. Over 900,000 homes are currently without power on Long Island.

Hundreds, if not thousands of homes are without power in Oyster Bay, East Norwich, Upper Brookville, Old Brookville, Oyster Bay Cove, and Cove Neck.Some businesses such as Lourdes Mexican Deli downtown, Stop & Shop, Hess, and Coach Grill are or will be open and running on generators. Broadway Mall is open in Hicksville, but very crowded for obvious reason.

Patch has not seen any LIPA crews on the main roads like Main Street, Cove Road, South Street or 106 and the LIPA outage map does not seem to reflect accurate on-the-ground outage numbers. The LIPA outage map on their website is not showing restoration times and is not reflecting that crews are at nearby sites, aside from Bayville Road area near Locust Valley.

More than 900,000 homes and businesses were affected by outages, according to LIPA. Hospitals, other critical facilities, and emergency services take first priority in the power restoration process, which will be ongoing for the next few days. Be prepared to be in the dark for a while.

Monday 5:30 p.m.

From LIPA: Due to the high sustained wind speeds and localized flooding, work on overhead lines will be delayed for long periods of time until conditions once again become safe for our crews, which based on the current weather forecast, will be Tuesday morning.

Downtown Oyster Bay remains surprisingly unaffected by power outages.

Over 200 affected in East Norwich. Over 400 affected in Oyster Bay Cove and Cove Neck. Over 400 in Matinecock. Over 350 in Bayville.

Monday 2 p.m.

Large outage along Bayville Road. 1,838 homes reportedly affected. LIPA assessing condition.

Roughly 250 homes without power in East Norwich, LIPA is assessing damage and has sent out crews to the largest cluster of affected homes. No restoration time.

Roughly 315 homes without power in parts of Bayville. Crews assigned, no restoration time.

117 homes without power in Cove Neck. LIPA assessing condition, no restoration time.

157 homes without power in Matinecock area. LIPA assessing condition, no restoration time.

Scattered homes without power in Oyster Bay. No more than 17.

Monday 11:30 a.m.

Minor power outages reported in Oyster Bay, Oyster Bay Cove, Upper Brookville, and Old Brookville. LIPA crew working on and reassessing a larger outage in Lattingtown.

Monday 10:27 a.m.

LIPA is reporting 607 power outages in Lattingtown with crews responding. Restoration time 11 a.m. Minimal outages in Bayville.
