LIPA Reports Storm Outages

Power outages reported in Oyster Bay area, LIRR train service suspended by downed trees.

Strong winds blowing through Long Island are creating havoc during the Friday morning commute, from power outages to downed trees.

The first day of winter has brought several disruptions to the Town of Oyster Bay.

The Long Island Power Authority is reporting more than 11,000 customers without power Island-wide, including 216 in Brookville, 33 in Lattingtown and 21 in Centre Island.

The Long Island Rail Road has temporarily suspended the Oyster Bay line in both directions between Oyster Bay and Mineola because of a tree across the tracks west of Locust Valley Station.

According to LIPA's outage map, the Brookville outage isn't expected to be repaired until 2:30 p.m.

Customers are asked to report downed wires at 1-800-490-0075.
