Update: Power Mostly Restored to Oyster Bay Area

Power outages appearing, disappearing in and around Oyster Bay.

Update: Friday, 10 p.m.

LIPA says 29 homes north of Bailey Arboretum County Park are without power, down from 144. Less than 10 customers in East Norwich and Mill Neck are in the dark, according to the map. Upper Brookville, Bayville, Oyster Bay, Oyster Bay Cove, and Cove Neck are unaffected as of 10 p.m.

Less than 86 residences remain without power in central Bayville, while 144 remain in the dark near Bailey Arboretum. Less than 20 outages remain in Mill Neck, Oyster Bay Cove, and East Norwich.

Crews are reportedly assigned to all areas without power.

As a fierce winter storm descends on the Oyster Bay area, neighborhoods are already beginning to lose power.

According to Long Island Power Authority's outage map, 1,838 customers in Bayville alone were reportedly in the dark as of 4:45 p.m. Friday. The outages were concentrated mainly to the Mill Neck Creek area in the southern end of Bayville.

Shortly after, power was restored to all but 86 customers. Those outages should be repaired by 8 p.m. Friday.

1,819 customers were in the dark in the Bailey Arboretum County Park area as well. Crews were assigned to the neighborhood and power is due to be restored by 5 p.m.

Less than 15 customers in East Norwich, Oyster Bay, and Oyster Bay Cove were reportedly without power as well. Crews were assigned to three sites near Theodore Roosevelt Park and areas around 25A. Oyster Bay is due to be back by 6 p.m., while the area around 25A will be back after 8 p.m.
