Farewell, Mr. President

An 'old lion' died 94 years ago.

"The old lion is dead." -- Archie Roosevelt on his father's passing.

Sunday was the anniversary of the death of Oyster Bay's most famous resident, President Theodore Roosevelt.

Check out the YouTube clip above of Roosevelt's funeral. In the background, you can see Oyster Bay's Christ Church, where Roosevelt's funeral ceremony was held. Some who got out of the way of the procession were slipping on the snow that fell that January day.

According to the clip, Rev. Dr. George E. Talmadge presided over the burial at Young's Memorial Cemetery. Talmadge leads mourners, including Roosevelt's son, Captain Archie Roosevelt, to the burial site. Other friends and mourners of political and military standing can be seen at the ceremony.
