UPDATE: Fire Engulfs East Norwich Home

All residents safely evacuated, police confirm.

Five fire departments battled a fire that engulfed an East Norwich home Friday afternoon, according to Nassau County Police.

Arson and bomb squad detectives said officers were called to the 18 Gabriele Drive home at 1:20 p.m. Friday.

The female homeowner, 44, was reportedly in her second floor bedroom when her dog began barking and neighbors started yelling to her.

The homeowner, who has not been named by police, came downstairs and saw the blaze on the outside of the house, cops said. She safely fled her house through the garage, police reported.

East Norwich, Roslyn, Syosset, Oyster Bay, and Sea Cliff fire companies responded to extinguish the blaze.

The fire caused extensive damage to both the inside and outside of the house, cops said.

No one was reportedly injured in the incident.

Though the cause of the fire is undetermined, it is being treated as non-suspicious at this time, police said.
