Oyster Bay Woman Featured in New Bravo Show

Kathryn and John Lagoudes star in "Newlyweds: The First Year" on Bravo.

An Oyster Bay woman and her new husband are front and center in the latest reality show from Bravo.

Oyster Bay's Kathryn Lagoudes, formerly Bougadis, and her husband, John, are one of the couples featured in "Newlyweds: The First Year" on Bravo.

Kathryn, 33, and Lagoudes, 40, brought cameras into their homes to document their first year of marriage, from the moment they said "I do" to their first wedding anniversary.

The show premiered Monday.

Kathryn, originally from Bayside, was in television production and met John while staying with her parents in late 2010 between shows, according to Newsday. John, raised in Bellerose and Syosset, runs JL Drafting in Farmingdale. They were reportedly introduced through a friend as they watched a Yankee game at a local spot.

In "Newlyweds," the couple navigates their own challenges after the wedding, from hoping for a "honeymoon baby" to suddenly owning Glow Tanning Salon in Nesconset.

John told Newsday:

"I own a commercial building, and this was a dying tanning salon that wasn't keeping up with the rent. So one month after the marriage, I took it over. Kathryn did a fantastic job. She basically took her Manhattan artsy lifestyle and gave it a New York chic look."

"I did the show to give hope to all the single ladies," tweeted Kathryn Monday night.

Syosset's Retro Fitness proudly posted on the Patch Board that their patron and sister of Kathryn, Ellen Lagoudes, of Syosset, would be "seen on several episodes guiding her brother on relationship advice and welcoming her new Sister in law into the family."
