More Manpower Coming to West Shore Road

County Executive announces work hour increases to repair destroyed road.

Work hours will increase in the reconstruction of West Shore Road, according to Ed Mangano.

Calling the announcement an "exciting development," the Nassau County Executive said on Facebook Tuesday that the seawall reconstruction on West Shore Road is on schedule and due to be completed by July 4.

Mangano posted a picture with the announcement of workers installing a cofferdam that allows contractors to excavate and and install a new sea wall.

The news is the latest in the ongoing revitalization of the Bayville area post-Hurricane Sandy.

On March 1, the Village of Mill Neck released their latest update saying LIPA, Verizon, and other utility factions have been busy installing inner workings and vaults in the area. Four drainage structures have been installed as well and will collect runoff to be sent into catch basins to filter the water before sending it into the bay.

Old Brookville Police and Oyster Bay Police have been patrolling the heavily used detours around West Shore Road as traffic surges make driving conditions more hazardous.

The Bayville Bridge is scheduled to open in April. According to the Revitalize West Shore Road Facebook page, Legislator Delia DiRiggi-Whitton reported that a major part required for the bridge's reconstruction had been received.
